Of course over the last 70 or 80 years many of the old buildings have been covered up with ugly aluminium and glass facades but if you look up above the shops in the main street there are still quite a few verandahs with lacework ornamentation. A couple of months ago something changed in my life. And I have to admit I miss him like crazy. Dad was a solitary man. He spent most of his life at sea. He moved away not long after we had resumed our relationship, all the way to Tasmania. I always said I was coming to visit but in the end he came to visit us first, at my wedding.
